New York State Senator Michael F. Nozzolio Honors Mary Walsh Boatfield
With Local "Woman of Distinction" Award at Annual Senate Program
Mary Walsh Boatfield, Happiness House CEO has been chosen by State Senator Michael F. Nozzolio (R-Fayette) to receive the “Woman of Distinction Award”, which was presented to Ms. Boatfield in Senate Chambers on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 in Albany.
Ms. Boatfield has, by virtue of her profession, distinguished herself as an outstanding professional in the Finger Lakes region. Competence, leadership and service are core tenets of Mary’s work ethic. The “Women of Distinction” award is intended for a woman who has made substantive improvements in an organization, demonstrated effective leadership and management, improved the quality of an organization, and helped people develop their leadership abilities.
As the agency’s CEO, Happiness House’s revenue has doubled, to almost a ten million dollar agency in 2009. Projects to enhance service growth and economic development under Mary’s direction include: completion of a $3.5 million dollar building project, opening the agency’s first community residence for youth, constructing a new 23,000 square foot preschool and adult program facility in Canandaigua and a 4,500 square foot expansion project in Geneva, and the inauguration of the Happiness House Foundation.
Ms. Boatfield is a dedicated, devoted CEO who takes pride in providing the highest quality programs and services to children and adults with disabilities and to their families in the Finger Lakes region. She is an instrumental part of “What Happens Here Changes Lives Forever”.
Happiness House- Finger Lakes Cerebral Palsy Association is a private nonprofit educational, health and human service organization that has been serving communities in the Finger Lakes region in Upstate New York since 1969. Today with sites in Canandaigua, Geneva, Gorham, and Waterloo, Happiness House offers an array of educational program, recreational and family support services for children and adults with and without disabilities who reside in Ontario, Seneca, Wayne, and Yates counties. On average Happiness House serves 1,000 individuals and their families each year.
